Invertimos en un sistema de cosecha de lluvia, que permite mediante la captación, filtrado, almacenamiento y distribución, usar el agua de lluvia en nuestras áreas comunes. Además de la bomba eléctrica, instalamos una bici bomba, para distribuir el agua por pedaleo, con el fin de hacer actividades recreativas con el personal.
Con ello aprendimos sobre el costo de llevar agua a los hogares, disminuimos el uso del agua que provee la Ciudad de México y contribuimos al bienestar del personal.

After the major earthquakes that took place in the Southeastern Region of Turkey on February 6, 2023, Günışığı Kitaplığı took immediate action to support children and young survivors in the region. In addition to making financial donations, Günışığı Kitaplığı, donated 50,000 books to be distributed in collaboration with major NGO’s and public authorities to the students who try continuing their education in containers and/or tent cities in the region.

Organised by Günışığı Kitaplığı annualy since 2011 this competition is open to middle school students from all over Turkey. Every year a different theme is selected for the stories to be written, some of which are SDG related such as “Love of Nature”. Award winning and short listed stories are compiled as a book and distributed to all schools and libraries free of charge. Encouraging children to express themselves in writing, this competition develops their written communication skills.

As a diamond open-access journal, “English Studies at NBU” is committed to making knowledge accessible to everyone while addressing global challenges. We take sustainability seriously. Our operations are entirely virtual, with remote offices and online meetings, and minimal needs to travel, which reduces our environmental impact. We reach a broad enough audience through our online publications and from 2025, we plan to switch to a “Print on Demand” model, phasing out traditional print runs.

Libro gratuito para población vulnerable tiene el objetivo de brindar contenidos con validez científica, en temas específicos de salud física, mental y emocional apoyando problemáticas, en un lenguaje comprensible y sin costo para quien lo adquiere.

El éxito recae en la alianza con especialistas/autores en la materia y proveedores, quienes aportan sus conocimientos en la edición, el papel, impresión y encuadernación sin cobrar por ello, potencializando la labor para trabajar en conjunto.

 

Free book for vulnerable population aims to provide content with scientific validity, on specific topics of physical, mental and emotional health supporting problems, in an understandable language and at no cost to whoever acquires it.

Success lies in the alliance with specialists/authors in the field and suppliers, who contribute their knowledge in editing, paper, printing and binding without charging for it, empowering the work to work together.

As part of the Princeton University Press’ commitment to environmental sustainability, the Press launched its first issue of the PULP sustainability newsletter, aimed at educating and informing its staff of environmental issues within the publishing industry, as well as the sustainability initiatives being undertaken by PUP, under the guidance of its Sustainability Working Group. The newsletter is an educational tool to bring more awareness to sustainability to the Press’ employees.

In 2020, Princeton University Press (PUP) launched the Global Equity Grants initiative. The grants support self-identified underrepresented authors during the publication process. Nearly 100 grants have been offered since the launch of the program, subsidizing the costs of childcare, permissions and illustration preparation, media coaching, additional marketing, and research and engagement related travel.

Beginning in 2022, Princeton University Press (PUP) has committed to using only book papers rated three stars or higher by the Book Chain Project, as determined by a tool called Forest Risk Assessment, which assigns a grade to each paper brand and type. PUP has also increased its use of paper certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and continues to prioritize the use of FSC-certified paper whenever possible.

In 2020, Princeton University Press announced the PUP Publishing Fellowship, an initiative aimed at addressing a lack of diverse representation across the publishing industry. The Fellowship is also part of the Press-wide “Equity, Inclusion & Belonging” strategic initiative launched in 2018. It is designed for individuals with no prior publishing experience, who are from communities historically underrepresented within US publishing.

Princeton University Press (PUP) gives annually to organizations whose missions and values align with its own. Some of the organizations PUP has donated to financially this calendar year are BookTrust UK, Universal Reading Foundation, Princeton Public Library, HomeFront NJ, Trenton Area Soup Kitchen and the CCNY Publishing Certificate Program. PUP has also donated books to Northwest Prison Education Program, Literacy Volunteers of Somerset County and the TREC College in Prison Program.

“English Studies at NBU” ESNBU publishes research that delves into the challenges faced by individuals with dyslexia, autism, attention deficits and neurodevelopmental disorders. These articles highlight the importance of addressing neurodiversity in education and society. They also help fosters inclusive learning environments, and advocate for greater understanding and equity as they emphasize the need for mental and emotional support for neurodiverse individuals.

These works contribute to understanding and solving global challenges.

At “English Studies at NBU” we are dedicated to supporting authors from all backgrounds. About 19.1% of our authors come from the Global South, ensuring that voices from underrepresented regions are heard. Additionally, 20% of our authors are doctoral students or early-career researchers. We mentor these scholars to help them refine their work and contribute valuable perspectives to the academic community, therefore supporting inclusivity.

Over half (56.7%) of our published authors are women, demonstrating our dedication to breaking down barriers in academia. Diversity and representation are key priorities at “English Studies at NBU”. Since the journal began, we have worked to achieve gender balance on our Editorial Board. Currently, nearly 50% of our editors are women. This balance ensures that different perspectives shape our editorial decisions, creating a more inclusive academic environment. It also encourages more women to participate in academic publishing.

UQP made operational changes to reduce and offset its 2023 emissions and become Australia’s first ‘climate positive’ publisher. With independent verification under Climate Active standards, we measured and reduced our direct emissions and purchased more than the required offsets to be carbon positive. The 2023 offsetting schemes UQP used are accredited under the Gold Standard Schemes and Verra Schemes and are all linked to UN SDGs.

Being the first publishing house in Turkey signing the SDG Pusblishers Compact, Günışığı Kitaplığı has committed to adding new books to its catalogue that will increase knowledge and glorify hope in the fight against the climate crisis. With our expertise in the field of Children’s and YA Literature Books, we aim at drawing the attention of children and young adults to these issues through quality fiction books centered around various themes such as environment, climate change, and migration.
