Invertimos en un sistema de cosecha de lluvia, que permite mediante la captación, filtrado, almacenamiento y distribución, usar el agua de lluvia en nuestras áreas comunes. Además de la bomba eléctrica, instalamos una bici bomba, para distribuir el agua por pedaleo, con el fin de hacer actividades recreativas con el personal.
Con ello aprendimos sobre el costo de llevar agua a los hogares, disminuimos el uso del agua que provee la Ciudad de México y contribuimos al bienestar del personal.

As a diamond open-access journal, “English Studies at NBU” is committed to making knowledge accessible to everyone while addressing global challenges. We take sustainability seriously. Our operations are entirely virtual, with remote offices and online meetings, and minimal needs to travel, which reduces our environmental impact. We reach a broad enough audience through our online publications and from 2025, we plan to switch to a “Print on Demand” model, phasing out traditional print runs.

The sectoral conference, organized by Günışığı Kitaplığı as a social responsibility project since 2011 is supported also by the Turkish Publishers Association. Bringing together all the stakeholders of the publishing industry with new agendas every year, this conference plays an important role in the development of our publishing sector to international standards. The program of the 2022 conference was designed to focus on “Climate Crisis and Publishing Sector” and supported by UNDP Türkiye as well.

With our expertise in the field of Children’s and YA Literature Books, we aim at drawing the attention of children and young adults to these issues through quality fiction books centered around various themes such as environment, climate change, and migration.

Orders from UQP’s online store are packaged using reused boxes, recyclable mailers made with 100% recycled newspaper, recycled packing paper and compostable packing peanuts. UQP have also done away with printed invoices in favour of digital receipts.

The global book trade needs to be able to identify books that are about or advance all or specific SDG Goals and it is important that these can be discovered by potential readers.. EDItEUR has now added specific qualifier codes for each of the SDG Goals to the global book subject classification Thema and these can be used by publishers to increase the visibility of titles around the globe, in any language and for any audience.

Through Wiley’s partnership with Trees for the Future, a tree gets planted for every copy of a journal we actively stop printing. We surpassed our goal of one million trees planted by May 2024. In calendar year 2023 alone, we funded 470,492 trees planted, 376 forest gardens, 376 farmers being trained, and 3,011 family beneficiaries.

Recycle EVERYTHING Month proved to be a triumph!
The Wiley Australia Community & Social Responsibility Committee rallied our Brisbane, Melbourne, and remote teams for a month-long endeavor dedicated to recycling and donating goods.
The result? Over 275lbs of items were collected across all our offices.

The new HarperCollins facility in Robroyston, Glasgow, including distribution center and offices, is due to open in 2025 and is being built with sustainability in mind. The site is being built to BREEAM ‘very good’ standard – this means it will be operating to a high standard on areas including energy and water usage, pollution, waste and ecology. Features will include solar panels, rain water recycled for bathrooms, and landscaping that will promote the local ecosystem.

Collins, Farshore, and HarperCollins Children’s Books are excited to be working with Wastebuster on the not-for-profit recycling program, Recycle to Read. We will be supplying books as rewards to participating schools who organize and promote toy, textiles and battery takeback collections in exchange for vouchers to spend on books.

HarperCollins saved the equivalent of 3.2 million gallons of water and 2.8 million kg of CO2 emissions in fiscal 2023 through its use of Rolland Envirobook paper (the only book publishing paper made in North America consisting of 100% post-consumer waste recycled fiber), and Rolland Opaque paper, which consists of 30% recycled fiber.

HarperCollins UK became a member of On Pack Recycling Labels (OPRL), a program to promote consumer awareness of what materials can be recycled and where they can recycle them. OPRL labels are widely recognized in the U.K. and give clear information to consumers on items with shrink-wrap or cardboard packaging used to protect products.

Our eco-friendly font journey began in 2017 with Zondervan’s NIV Comfort Print typeface, which has saved over 100M pages, followed by the HC Arc font for non-English titles. The proprietary fonts are easy to implement and versatile, enhancing reader experience while benefiting the environment. The adult trade team has since curated a collection of thinner fonts that improve opacity and use less ink; paired with thoughtful layouts to maximize space and reduce page count has saved over 183M pages.

In Sydney, HarperCollins Australia adopted sustainable design principles in their office relocation, using high-recycled-content materials from local suppliers, installing sensor lighting, and donating two tons of surplus office supplies.
